Licensed acupuncturists use acupuncture, often alongside other care, for pain and other conditions.

It depends on your plan. HMO plans (including many Medicare Advantage HMOs) usually require a referral from your primary care provider; PPO plans usually don't. Check your plan documents or call the number on your insurance card.
