Find orthopedic surgeons

Orthopedic surgeons treat injuries and conditions of the bones, joints, ligaments, and muscles — including fractures, sports injuries, arthritis, and joint replacement.

It depends on your plan. HMO plans (including many Medicare Advantage HMOs) usually require a referral from your primary care provider; PPO plans usually don't. Check your plan documents or call the number on your insurance card.

Doctors contract with specific insurance networks, not entire insurance companies — and sometimes only at certain offices. Once you've found a few options here, check them in your insurer's online directory or call the member services number on your card, then confirm with the office when you book.
