Do I need a referral to see a physical therapist?

It depends on your plan. HMO plans (including many Medicare Advantage HMOs) usually require a referral from your primary care provider; PPO plans usually don't. Check your plan documents or call the number on your insurance card.

How do I find a physical therapist in California who takes my insurance?

Doctors contract with specific insurance networks, not entire insurance companies — and sometimes only at certain offices. How do I get my medical records from a physical therapist?
